God Fights For You

The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still. (Exodus 14:14)

Imagine being trapped between a turbulent sea and a raging army. Would you be worried? Restless perhaps?

Yet, God tells His people to be still. It sounds like a simple thing to do, but at the same time, it requires immense trust in the Lord.

After all, their lives are at stake!

But God tells them not to fight against the enemy. Not to scatter frantically. Not to fear.

Just be still. For He’ll fight for them.

And He’s saying the same thing to you now!

Do you trust God with your life? Many of us would say we do.

But yet, when see our bank balances going low, or see an underserving colleague about to get a promotion, or face relationship troubles, we stop trusting God and start relying on our own power.

If that’s the case, what makes us think that we’d truly trust God with our lives (and eternal lives)?

Or perhaps trusting God is just a backup? An insurance plan? A desperate plea? A last resort?

For faith is a lifestyle. A choice we make daily from the smallest inconveniences to the biggest troubles.

Do we choose to be riled up? Or do we choose to be still and trust the Lord?

I submit to you today that no matter what problems you face, don’t fear, don’t worry, don’t plot, don’t scheme.

Just still your heart and let God win the battles for you.

That’s why God’s Word says that we’re more than conquerors – for we’ll be victorious without fighting.

Be Greatly Blessed!

Action Steps:

Still your heart and turn to God.

Let go of any stress, worry, or fear.

Know that the LORD your God is in you, with you, and for you.

Allow Him to do the battles for you.

Remember, nothing is too difficult for God.

Whenever you face a problem, relax, be still, and ask yourself, “Am I doing the fighting? Or is God doing the fighting?”

Learn to stay in the Rest (Sabbath) of God and follow His promptings.

He’ll lead you to victory, for we are more than conquerors through Christ!

Let’s pray…

Prayer:

Father, I know that my heart is turbulent at times.

Fear and worry creep in when I’m faced with seemingly insurmountable problems.

But your Word says that you will fight for me.

It’s not my fight, but yours!

And if you, almighty God is fighting for me, how can we not be victorious?

So teach me Lord. Teach me to be still. Teach me to calm my heart in the face of trouble.

To turn to you instead of my own wit and strength.

There’s no need for me to struggle, plot, and scheme.

For I don’t need to know all the answers to my problems in order to be at peace.

All I need to know is that you’re fighting for me, and that you’ll bring me to the promised land.

So I rest in your strength today Lord.

I’ll be still as I watch in wonder as you do mighty works with your hand.

In Jesus’ Mighty Name,

AMEN!
