‘Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits.’ (Psalms 103:2)
Favoured child of God, remember today the goodness of our Heavenly Father.
For His blessings are sweeter than honey and finer than gold.
Yet, we often get tempted to forget God and attribute successes to our own human efforts when things are going well.
Thankfully, God is all too familiar with the human heart. When all our needs are met and we are living in the land of plenty, God knows we are inclined to forget Him.
When the bank balance is healthy, the family is not sick, the bills are paid on time and there is food in the fridge, we are prone to take all the credit for our prosperity.
We become proud, thinking it is our cleverness and hard work that has made us rich.
We alone have provided for our comfort and security.
We have become occupied with collecting and managing our wealth and resources.
In the midst of it all, God can often be pushed to the extremities and forgotten.
We have forgotten that He is the source of all our provisions and all our good fortune.
God told the Israelites to remember that everything they had was from Him. In 40 years of wandering in the desert, their clothes did not wear out, their feet did not swell, He gave them food to eat and water to drink. He guarded them against the enemy, both man and beast and provided shelter as they journeyed.
It is easy to take God’s provision for granted.
How often do we thank God for the blessings He has bestowed upon us?
Is our car running, can we buy groceries this week, are our homes comfortable, can we pay our rent or mortgage, do we have work to occupy us and friends to enjoy?
Can we even begin to imagine what our lives would be like if these things were removed? Take particular notice of what God has given us today and then give thanks. Lest we forget His bounty to us.
So remember God’s goodness, thank Him for His promises and seek His Kingdom daily.
All other things you need will then be continually added unto you.
Be Greatly Blessed!

Prayer:
Father, help me to continually remember your goodness.
I’ll always keep praises on my lips and thanksgiving in my heart.
Forgive me for the times I presume that all I have is from my own efforts.
Let me never forget that you alone are the source of all good things.
Remind me what you have given to me today.
Open my eyes to see and my heart to thank you.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
AMEN!
