‘May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you.’ Psalm 25:21 (NIV)
Integrity is all about honesty and honor. It’s about being ‘whole’ and open and not wearing a mask that divides our private self from our public self. And that means we act the same – wherever we are, whatever we’re doing and whoever we’re with.
We can often end up being a different person, depending on the situation. Maybe how we are with our family is totally different to how we are with our friends. Or how we are at church is different from how we are at work.
But if we have integrity, we’re the same wherever we are. We may show difference sides of ourselves to different people; we won’t always be completely vulnerable with everyone; but the essence of who we are, our true identity, is the same. Proverbs 10:9 says: ‘The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.’
We live in a culture that celebrates talent over integrity, but we have that all wrong. Talent can fade over time. So can intellect and looks. But integrity can last a lifetime.
Prayer:
‘Lord, I have made choices and spoken in ways that have damaged my integrity. Help me to begin again speaking with honesty and acting in ways that are true to who I am. Help me to walk honorably. Thank you.’
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
AMEN!

Final Thoughts:
Unfortunately, when we deliberately choose the wrong path our integrity can be damaged. Our reputation can be shattered in seconds. We need to be asking God to help us stay on the right path. We can join David in praying that integrity and uprightness would protect us.
If we do end up damaging our integrity, we can rebuild it again. However keep in mind that it takes much longer to rebuild than to build. But we don’t have to lose hope or give up. We just need to return to God, ask for His forgiveness and get back on the right path.
Be Greatly Blessed!
