…not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9)
Dear beloved. You’ve been blessed to be a blessing.
You’re the precious child of God. The inheritor of all His blessings through our Lord Jesus Christ.
The key here is ‘inherit’. You see, many of us wish to earn our blessings. We want to be able to say, “we did this” or “we earned that”. But the truth is, we’ll never be able to earn God’s blessings – because they’ve been freely given to us.
If we simply rely on our own strength to live up to God’s standards, we’ll never make it. It’s only when we realize how truly helpless we are and accept His Grace (Jesus Christ) that we are able to live in the blessings and promises that God has stored up for us.
Of course, as with every other inheritance, in the end, you’re the one who has to make the decision whether or not you wish to accept it.
But when you understand and receive His blessings, you’ll come to realize that you no longer need to claw and fight your way through the world in order to get what you want. You no longer need to render evil for evil, or insult for insult, because you know that God is for you.
Instead, you’ll be able to bless those who curse you, and pray for those who intend to harm you, out of the overflowing of your heart. You’ll come to live the abundant life that Jesus came to give and rest in His finished work.
So remember today that you’re no longer an orphan. You’re the beloved child of God, the heir to all of His promises.
God has set before you life and death. Blessings and cursings. And He’s suggesting for you to choose life and blessings.
Will you accept?
Be Greatly Blessed!

1 Peter 3:8-15
Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous, not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. For,
“He who would love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit.
Let him turn away from evil and do good.
Let him seek peace and pursue it.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears open to their prayer;
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
Now who will harm you if you become imitators of that which is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts.
