“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever” 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NIV).
What do you have to be thankful for in this moment? It’s likely more than you think. The Lord provides so many different things to us that it can be easy to take much of our lives for granted. When is the last time you gave thanks to the Lord for what you’ve been given?
We should not focus on the things we want in life but rather the things we need. Sometimes they are the same but often they are not. While many would perhaps like to have the newest and nicest things available the fact of the matter is many could be just as well of with that they already have. As the saying goes, money does not buy happiness. Instead of looking toward others with envy, be thankful for what the Lord has already provided.
Today I challenge you to not only thank the Lord but also show appreciation for those in your life. Whether you know if or not so many people have helped you get to where you are today. Who amongst your friends has been there to support you through dark times? Who else has always served as a mentor? Or as a sounding board when you needed advice?
The Lord has provided these people in your life to help mold you into the person you are today. Think of all of the positive things that have come from these people! What a truly special gift they’ve been to you. Who can you think to reach out to today and give thanks?
Prayer:
“Lord, today I give thanks for all that you have given me. It can be easy to become wrapped up in all of the things in my life and sometimes I forget what I already have been given. Thank you for putting positive people into my life and for the support you enable them to give to me.”
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
AMEN!
Final Thoughts:
“Lord, today I give thanks for all that you have given me. It can be easy to become wrapped up in all of the things in my life and sometimes I forget what I already have been given. Thank you for putting positive people into my life and for the support you enable them to give to me.”
