‘And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.”‘ (Mark 6:31)
Beloved, take a moment today to edify your spirit.
Do you sometimes feel weary? Are tired out from the demands of the world?
Does it sometimes seem like even your closest loved ones are causing strain on your spirit?
Perhaps it’s because you’re trying your best to provide for them.
Perhaps it’s because you’re trying to carry all the burdens for them so they can be worry-free.
Perhaps it’s simply because you’re exhausted.
Exhausted from trying so hard. Exhausted from constantly thinking of what to do next.
Well, favoured child of God, I have good news for you.
Just as you wanted to carry your loved ones’ burdens, your Heavenly Father wants to carry yours.
Come now. Come to Jesus and refresh yourself.
Take off the heavy armour. Lower the bulky shield. Lay down the sword.
There’s no need to fight here. God is here for you and victory is already yours through Christ.
Your feet may be covered in dust and dirt as you fight for your loved ones, but Jesus is waiting to wash them clean with cool, relaxing water.
Refresh yourself in the spring of life and rejuvenate your spirit.
Rest now. Rest in the comforting presence of the Lord. Take shelter in the shadow of the Almighty.
Let Jesus carry your burdens, for His yoke is light.
All is well. And the best is yet to come. You’ll see.
Be Greatly Blessed!
Prayer:
Father, I come to you today without pretence or any defensiveness.
I lay all my burdens before you today.
Refresh my soul and rejuvenate my spirit.
Give me the strength to live a life worthy of Christ’s sacrifice.
I now rest in your promises, trust in your love, and give myself to your care.
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
AMEN!

Devotional:
Jesus told His disciples to go off, “pray and rest in Him” in order to be refreshed be refreshed.
Similarly, whenever you feel exhausted, come to Jesus to refresh yourself.
Jesus worked hard, as did His disciples, but they didn’t drive themselves to sheer exhaustion. Jesus reminded them and made sure they were taken care of, and that they took care of themselves, not only spiritually, but physically as well.
We can do no one good if we flatline, so it is important for us to replenish ourselves through prayer and meditation.
Only God can refresh us and give us true rest.
When we trust Him and go to Him in prayer, He rewards us with a renewed spirit.
Jesus prayed every single day to the Father, many times during the day, afternoon, evening and night.
He knew that what He was doing on earth, was the Father’s will. He prayed for His will to be done on earth, as it is in Heaven; (Matthew 6:10).
As the Son would seek Him in earnest prayer, so too should we.
The Lord’s prayer, given by Jesus to us, shows us how to pray to our Father in Heaven. It teaches us to seek God’s will, grace, providence, and guidance on a daily basis.
And, so, we should follow His lead accordingly, each day of our lives.
Jesus is our example, He is the light we follow, and He is the source of all we need.
When We go to God in prayer, in Jesus name, we’ll find rest and peace.
Rest in Him. Hear Him and His Word.
Sometimes, all we need may be to need to sit still and meditate on His Word.
Carefully listen for His voice…”Be still and know that I am God…” Psalm 46:10
