‘And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.’ Ephesians 6:18 (NIV).
At first glance Paul’s request to pray all the time seems impossible. But it is not as difficult as we might think. We can make quick, brief prayers our habitual response to every situation we encounter throughout the day. God listens to our prayer no matter how trifling or insignificant we may feel they are. Another way to pray continuously is to order our life around God’s desires and teachings so that our very life becomes a prayer. In Psalm 109:4 David declares ‘I will pray until I become prayer itself.’ In the Hebrew David is literally saying ‘I am prayer!’
We don’t have to isolate ourselves from others in order to pray constantly. We can make prayer our life and our life a prayer. We can become a prayer – a prayerful life that is offered up to God like a sweet smelling fragrance (Psalm 141:2). Rather than feeling like we are not praying enough or need to be alone on our knees more often, we can adopt a constant prayerful attitude by dependence upon God at all times. Realizing His presence is with us, acknowledging this fact in our heart quietly and obeying Him fully will draw us deeper into this prayerful life that will sustain us at all times.
Prayer:
‘Heavenly Father, I offer all of myself as a prayer to you. I want to gravitate myself more and more to giving all the moments of my day to please you and in doing this I will join David in saying, ‘I am prayer.’
In Jesus’ Mighty Name,
AMEN!

Final Thoughts:
What are our impressions of becoming a prayer? Can we negotiate past the thought that we must be praying all the time in a physical sense, to experiencing prayer as an offering of our lives to Him?
This is a much more liberating and freeing idea of prayer. Our life is a prayer offered to God, a sweet smelling aroma that will bring Him pleasure.
Be Greatly Blessed!
