A Rainbow of Promise

‘Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him.’ Ezekiel 1:28 (NIV).

The rainbow that appears in the sky after rain symbolizes God’s never-ending faithfulness to His people. Just as God sent a rainbow to Noah to symbolize His promise never again to destroy the earth by a flood (Genesis 9:15-16), so this rainbow symbolizes God’s promise to preserve those who remain faithful to Him.

God’s promises are as true and dependable as the rainbow that follows the rain. When God makes a pledge of assurance, it is as good as done. Numbers 23:19 says, ‘God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, the he should change his mind.

Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil?’ and Psalm 146:13 reminds us that, ‘The Lord is faithful to all his promises and loving toward all he has made.’ God will always do what He promises, because to act in any other way goes against who He is (Hebrews 10:23).

Because God has given us His very great and precious promises (2 Peter 1:4), we are able to live a victorious life with Christ as our source of our strength, hope and faith. There is nothing that God considers good for us that He will keep from us as we honor Him with our lives.

Psalm 84:11 says, ‘For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. As we obey Him, He promises not to withhold anything good that will help us serve Him.

Prayer:

‘Heavenly Father, thank you for the eternal rainbow of promise which reminds me of your everlasting love for all people. Help me to walk in the fullness of your promises today with a grateful and obedient heart.’

In Jesus’ Mighty Name,

AMEN!
